The CS 8100SC 3D extraoral imaging system is a multi-function imaging system that enhances diagnoses and improves the workflows of orthodontics, general practitioners and multi-specialty practices. It combines panoramic imaging, cephalometric imaging, cone beam computed tomography and additional 3D applications for accurate diagnoses, no matter the clinical need. In order to keep imaging in-house so doctors can go from diagnosis to treatment faster, the CS 8100SC 3D is built on the award-winning, compact footprint of the CS 8100 Family so it can fit within almost any practice.
High-Quality 3D Images
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) provides three-dimensional views of patients’ anatomy with 1:1 accuracy and no distortion or overlap of anatomy. The highly detailed 3D images lead to more confident diagnoses and contribute to better patient/doctor communication as well as increased case acceptance. With multiple fields of view (FOV), the CS 8100SC 3D is able to capture the ideal image according to the diagnostic needs. A maximum FOV of 8 cm x 9 cm can acquire full arches in a single scan, while a FOV of 5 cm x 5 cm covers basic clinical needs. For younger patients, the 4 cm x 4 cm volume provides images with a limited exposure area. Additionally, the 75μm resolution of the EndoHD mode provides extremely detailed images with no additional dose to the patient above the standard 5 cm x 5 cm exam.
Fastest Cephalometric Imaging
The CS 8100SC 3D features the fastest scanning cephalometric module, capable of capturing a scan in just three seconds.1 The short exposure time not only makes for safer exams by reducing dose to patients, but also decreases the risk of motion blur for sharper images. Two sensors come standard with the CS 8100SC 3D—one for panoramic and 3D imaging and one for cephalometric imaging—and users can easily switch between the two imaging modes with not manipulation necessary.
Unique 3D Applications
The CS 8100SC 3D features prominently in two specialty workflows from Carestream Dental—CS Solutions for Implants and CS Solutions for Orthodontics. For doctors planning and placing implants, or for those who would like to start doing so, CS Solutions for Implants features the prosthetic-driven implant planning module. The module, an optional feature of the system’s CS 3D Imaging software, combines CBCT volumes with digital impression data sets, along with a virtual crown and implant, for “crown-down” implant planning.
The CS 8100SC 3D also has the ability to scan patients’ traditional impressions or plaster models to create digital models for easier storage, making it a part of the CS Solutions for Orthodontics portfolio. Once scanned, the models can also be manipulated and analyzed in 3D using CS Model software. Additionally, because the digital models are created as open .STL files, they can also be exported for 3D printing and appliance manufacturing.
Effortless Positioning, with a Focus on Patient Comfort
The CS 8100SC 3D accommodates patients of all shapes and sizes, including those in wheelchairs. Its open design with face-to-face positioning reduces the feeling of confinement for the patient while facilitating patient alignment. The laser-free positioning combined with smart bite block help users intuitively position the patient in order to capture the region of interest. Height adjustment is effortless thanks to the motorized movements of the system and integrated handgrips keep the patient stable.
Safer, Faster Examinations
The updated low dose program of the CS 8100SC 3D allows doctors to perform 3D imaging at a dose equal to or lower than panoramic imaging2 while still capturing high-quality images. This is ideal for pediatric, orthodontic or follow-up examinations.
Comprehensive Software
The CS 8100SC 3D system includes state-of-the-art imaging software to enhance doctors’ diagnoses and treatment planning. Its CS 3D Imaging software makes image review, measurements and image sharing more accessible.
Images can be shared easily via USB flash drive, CD/DVD, email or lightweight screen capture. The software can be used with most practice management software and can be shared for free with referrals or correspondences to further facilitate collaborative work.
Exclusive Automatic Tracing Programs
When using the system’s cephalometric imaging capabilities, advanced software recognizes anatomical structures and traces them automatically. In fact, the CS 8100SC 3D can go from scanning to tracing within 90 seconds.3 For improved treatment planning, the software even allows practitioners to personalize tracings and to create customized templates, and it covers the most common analysis needs of orthodontists—including McNamara, Ricketts, Steiner and Tweed.
Compact Design
The CS 8100SC 3D’s design is based on the award-winning, space-saving concept of the CS 8100 Family. At just 72.5 in., or 1.8 m., wide, the system is ideal for practices of any size. Its aluminum body and miniaturized X-ray generator and sensor make it lightweight and easy to install, so doctors can begin diagnosing patients even faster.
